Simulated Human Vision..... Ian Overington |
This web site is devoted to material in support of Ian Overington’s efforts over many (>35) years (with the aid of his colleagues) to develop a range of what are believed to be unusual, if not unique, forms of image processing & analysis based on a growing understanding of the remarkable imaging capabilities of the human visual system in many ways (see Biography for summary). |
Initially a multi-parametric model of human visual threshold performance was established & refined - this including both foveal and extra-foveal viewing. From the latter, substantial visual lobe and search models were developed. Together these spawned a substantial textbook (‘Vision and Acquisition,’ Pentech Press, London, 1976) and a major open technical paper (‘Towards a complete model of photopic visual threshold performance,’ Optical Engineering, Vol. 21, No. 1, 1982) |
